Have you felt overwhelmed lately?
I know I had! There were days when the menial even seem too much for me, and times when I had simply run on low…
One morning, when I was searching my heart for unconfessed sins in my life, God simply pointed out to me the word “faithlessness”.
We can at times grow faithless when we labour in the flesh rather than rest in the Spirit.
When we strive in our own strength, the result will be exhaustion, weariness and disheartenment. Unbeknownst to us, we might be looking for validation and an assurance that we are doing well from others around us, and from the material possession we accumulate.
But you know – our confidence needs to be based on God alone. Our sense of well being should come from Him. We need to learn to maintain a spirit of rest and relaxation and trade off our uptightness with the knowledge that with the Lord, everything will work out just fine.
Do you feel frustrated? Constantly lethargic? Feeling left behind? Not being on top of things? Stressed? Not having enough time to do other things? Deprived?
What we need is a steadying centre…the knowledge that He will carry us to the end.
As mums we need to find His face, and allow Him to be the strength that carry us through as we battle with whatever we are battling with. It is His hand upon us that will enable us to focus our training in the home, and to say NO to being and doing everything that our friends are doing.
It is very easy for us as mums to want to do everything and be everything and have everything, but focus comes from having Him as the steadying centre of our life. He is the differentiator that qualify us. Our quantifier does not from our activities, but it comes from a life lived centrally up and out. And that centre is Christ.
Let there be a margin for the miraculous in your life. Refuse to be activity driven, refuse to lose focus, refuse to not have a godly perspective.
May His refreshing come upon your home and may God alone affirm the work of your hand. Walk free and unhindered. Life is not meant to be hurried. You do not exist just to tick off another project, finish another task, raise another kid…but life is meant to be lived full and large, with gratefulness, joy and courage.
Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence. Know this: God is God, and God, God. He made us; we didn’t make him. We’re his people, his well-tended sheep. Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him. For God is sheer beauty, all-generous in love, loyal always and ever. – Psalm 100:2-5 MSG
