“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest in your souls”. (Matthew 11:28-29)
Lord, here we come.
Just as we are, and just as You see us.
You see us as differently from how we see us.
You see us precious, cherised and loved.
And this is true — regardless of what might have happened, or what we might have done – or what we might still be going through — there are ways to rebound out of losses back into the court of Your mercy and second chances.
In You there’s clarity.
With You, a direction.
Listening to You is the way to prioritise what’s prime when everything else seems vying for our attention.
Here with You is our place to belong. An invitation to rest.
You who with meticulous care craft us into the beauty of Your Son; You will take our weight, our burden, our every struggle, and shape them into our strength.
We can rest assure that nothing in our lives has happened outside of the bound of Your great love, or the perimeter of Your great care.
And it’s true:
“When we understand that everything happening to us is to make us more Christlike, it resolves a great deal of anxiety.” (AW Tozer)
So we choose our rest in You.
We take our place in You.
You who came for us and into our everyday; You came all the way to be our way.
To take us through every hard way.
To transform the Jacob-like in us who can sometimes scheme and strive, stress and struggle, and redefine success — in the way a heart only understands eternity.
So we won’t compete. We won’t strive.
We won’t try to impress or outdo. Our frames aren’t fashioned for fame, only for Your glory.
We simply come to simply be.
And in this place of peace, we find glory – if we slow long enough to see.
And we see, these detours and obstacles, heartbreaks and heartaches? — they don’t have to be final or fatal. They can be our way forward.
They can be oil for our rejoicing.
The gift for our making.
That God-moments can appear every day and everywhere.
Old things can be seen anew, and the rain can remake us, and we can start over, because You are making all things new…
